An overview of the motherboard. Notice some strange setup in and around the VIC chip area. A lot more chips in general are socketed on the board too.
 
R1 PAL VIC chip. Ceramic case as all R1s were instead of the later, slightly more heat retaining plastic (black) ones. Hence not heat-sinked!
 
Notice that yes, some early chips for the C64 were made in Singapore. The 6581 (SID) chip in this machine also has the earliest production stamp (22nd week of 1982).
